Southern Silences Conference - Oral History Performance

  Southern Silences Conference Opening Event - Oral History Performance - A dramatic retelling of family stories and autobiographical remembrances of the shared heritage of American Indian and African American families. Designed as a narrative journey from Africa to Indigenous America, the oral history performance maps the memories and autobiographical events of African-Indian families. Performed by: André Minkins, WSSU, and Nina Lucas, WFU Co-Sponsored by NASA, the Native American Student Association at WFU

 

About the Conference: Friday, Nov.5-Saturday, Nov.6 Southern Silences is a two-day conference designed to identify and encourage new trends in our understanding of the history and culture of African Americans and American Indians in the Southeast. The Corner 2 Corner Conference is designed to bring together groups of community leaders to help individuals take those first steps in turning their lives around and to help them discover a new destiny for their lives. The Conference will begin on Thursday, November 18th and will include workshops for persons who are drug dealers and involved in other forms of street life.
